ASCII art and Image Conversion

For homework, we were asked to explore ASCII art and image conversion. From what I researched, it is Grid Art. Overtime, ASCII art and image conversion has definitely progressed, and now a photo can be simply transformed into ASCII art with the use of a website. Before researching ASCII art and image conversion, and actually completely a grid art image myself, I never realized how much effort and time was put in to create such an art.

What stumbles me, is how people were able to create such fantastic versions before technology was incorporated. Obviously people are able to create impressive Grid Art by using technological applications, but by hand is significantly more time consuming. In present day, people are able to create images that resemble popular cartoons, art pieces, and more.
