Music Genres
ELECTRONIC – PRODUCER/DJ CULTURE
FLUME
I am choosing to add Flume to the Electronic- Producer/DJ
culture genre. The reason I believe Flume fits this genre is because his music
is electronically produced. He creates many mixes and eventually layers them
over one another. In relation to technology, Flume uses only technology to
create his music. For example, he uses DAW, studio headphones, and different
plug ins to create his mixes. I chose to add Flume because I believe his style
of electronic music is unlike any other DJ. His mixes are distinctive to his own
sound. Also, he is able to have successful songs without featured artists,
although I do like several of his songs with other artists.
GIRL POWER
HALSEY
I am choosing to add Halsey to the Girl Power genre. The
reason I believe that Halsey fits this genre is because she is the ultimate
role model and successful singer/songwriter. Not only does she have music that
any girl could relate to, but also the way she presents herself to the world
helps represent a positive light of girl power. In relation to technology, Halsey
created her first album at her home. She did not use any over the top
technology and was able to create a beautiful album. Also, in her second album,
she used her brother’s speaking voice to create a song.
DISCO
MICHAEL JACKSON
I am choosing Michael Jackson for the Disco genre. The
reason I believe Michael Jackson fits this genre is because the beats in his
music are easy to dance to. Michael Jackson is one of the most successful
musicians of all time and was named the King of Pop. The technology Michael
Jackson uses in his music is unlike any other artist because he can go from
creating a song using so much technology, to a simple ballad. His own voice is
technology because it is able to range to a soprano.
HOUSE
ZEDD
I am adding Zedd for the House genre. The reason I believe
Zedd fits this genre is because of his popularization with working with other
artists. He has worked with artists such as Alesia Cara, Justin Bieber, and
more. Zedd creates his own mixes and uses vocals, synthesizers, and editing
applications to create his music.
LATIN WORLD
SHAKIRA
I am adding Shakira to the Latin World genre. The reason I
believe Shakira fits this genre is because her music is amongst the most well
known in Spanish speaking countries and more. Her music is diverse amongst many
Latin singers because she sings in both Spanish and English. The technology she
incorporates the most in her songs is her voice. Her voice is able to range
incredibly and at rapid speeds.
